The Ghana Gold Board (GOLDBOD) is the centralized regulator with exclusive mandate over the buying, selling, export, and assaying of gold and other precious minerals. We replace fragmented oversight with a unified framework to maximize national benefits, curb smuggling, and ensure responsible sourcing aligned with international standards (LBMA, OECD).
GOLDBOD works closely with the Minerals Commission, Precious Minerals Marketing Company (PMMC), and the Ghana Chamber of Mines. Our core objective is to ensure that every ounce of gold produced in Ghana contributes directly to economic development, job creation, and environmental stewardship.
To regulate, promote, and develop Ghana's gold industry through transparent policies, world-class assaying, and efficient marketing – ensuring maximum value retention for the Republic of Ghana and its people.
To make Ghana the most trusted and highest-value gold hub in Africa, setting the global benchmark for responsible gold trade, traceability, and inclusive economic transformation.
Integrity • Transparency • Sustainability • Innovation • National interest • Excellence in assaying and service delivery.
Under Section 24 of the GOLDBOD Act, the Board is the only entity authorized to assay all precious minerals (gold, silver, platinum, diamonds) produced in or imported into Ghana. Our state-of-the-art laboratories in Accra, Tarkwa, and Obuasi provide internationally accredited fire assay and XRF analysis. No gold export is valid without a GOLDBOD-issued certificate.
